After Facebook Places was launched in US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Australia and Italy, it has been silently launched in India as well. It has not been officially confirmed yet by Facebook but many users report of being allowed to check-in to locations.

Earlier, it had been launched in Ireland and Singapore.

Some users have confirmed it to be working on their iPhone devices. Users can check-in to locations using Facebook Places through official Facebook application for BlackBerry, iPhone, Android or alternatively by pointing their mobile browser to touch.facebook.com

It is not visible to everyone which seems to suggest its a slow rollout by Facebook for selective users or it was made visible only for a brief period.

We’ve tried to check if its working on Android and iPod touch device but no luck so far. Keep watching this space for any updates.
