Take one look around and there’s no doubt left that social media is mainstream.
In India too, people’s adoption of social media platforms has led to a basic change in how Internet is consumed. In case of the individual, from mere email usage to now managing personal connections, content discovery, sharing and creation. At the workplace there is growing adoption of social media and collaborative technologies for marketing, communication, relationship management, knowledge creation, sharing and management…
There is a lot of good work happening, but information about learnings, case-studies, best-practices is dispersed. Many stakeholders are keen to collaborate with others, and of course are in touch 24 x 7 with eachother on Twitter, Facebook, GTalk and a dozen other spaces but there is perhaps a need to get people together even closer.
This need that we, and others we spoke with, felt became the genesis of IndiaSocial™, which will aim to:
bring together stakeholders in the Indian social media eco-system for engagement, sharing, learning and collaboration in a vibrant space – physical and virtual.
To begin with there are 3-4 initiatives that are planned:
- Case-study series
A lot of great work, learnings and best-practices never get shared in absence of a relevant platform. IndiaSocial will share, on an ongoing basis, the best Indian case-studies of social media usage and impact across sectors – government and policy, not-for-profits, media, enterprise, human resource and marketing.
If you have a case that shares real impact, please share it here.
- IndiaSocial Wiki
..will aim to dynamically capture the social media journey and resources from an India perspective. The wiki will collate diverse experiences and learnings of participants, from across domains and verticals – each unique, each valuable. How much you contribute and share will determine how robust the wiki ends up being. We’re hoping to tie-up with institutions and individuals to ensure that accurate content and learnings are shared.
- IndiaSocial-2010
We are planning a large format social media event, in 2010, to showcase the social media landscape and opportunities in India. A line-up of high-profile speakers from India and overseas; panel discussions; workshops; case-studies and more…
These will evolve as we move forward.
IndiaSocial is really about people, learning, collaboration, technology, web, fun, colour and more – upto you to suggest, what more
.
The tagline ‘Social Media Open’, embodies openness - embracing all stakeholders; open discussions; akin to a sport field it showcases team spirit and a level playing field.
Let’s take it forward.
