Salesforce acquires Radian6 – CRM meets ORM

San Francisco based Salesforce.com has stepped up to acquire social media monitoring platform – Radian 6, in a $326 million deal.

This indicates a step in the online reputation management (ORM) space for Salesforce, which says all of its products would benefit from the acquisition, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Chatter and Force.com.

With many brands starting to use social media, it has become very important to listen in on what is being said about the brand on various social media properties such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs and online communities. Radian 6 is one of the most widely used tool when it comes to reputation management with more than half of Fortune 100 companies using it.

The combination of Salesforce’s enterprise cloud computing technology with Radian 6′s reputation management tools would be useful for B2B companies to use both services in perfect harmony.
